2024 Impact Report

What Seva is doing works. From 2023 to 2024, we've seen a 21% increase in women receiving eye care services, a 13% increase in the number of children receiving eyeglasses, and a 20x increase in eye services provided across our network of partners.

As you flip through this report, you'll learn more about our new Vision Centers, diagnostic tools we're field testing, and our bold plan, "Guatemala Brillando," which will create access to eye care for the entire country by 2032. Most importantly, you'll meet a few people whose lives were transformed this year through your generosity and compassion.

2023 Annual Report

The growing divide between those with and without access to essential health services is a big reason why we do what we do. When we implement effective public health infrastructure and monitor it diligently, it helps create resilient, self-sufficient societies. Over the years, Seva’s global network has excelled at delivering affordable, sustainable, and accessible eyecare in communities facing economic, political, and social challenges.

For 45 years, Seva has been engaged in the ongoing global health and development discussion. Our approach involves precise data collection, synthesis, and surveillance to understand health trends, improve service delivery, and expand our range of approved eye care solutions worldwide. Seva’s commitment to science and compassion has reached 57 million people from 1978-2023, with over 6.5 million served in the past year.

The Economic and Social Cost of Visual Impairment and Blindness in India

If you ever wondered about the cost of not addressing avoidable blindness, this paper will map out the implications in one of the world’s largest economies – India.

A country that aspires to be a $5 trillion economy cannot afford constraints to economic growth like poor eye health. Over the past 42 years, Seva Foundation has worked tirelessly to support our partners across India as they pioneered inexpensive and effective procedures. Today, in a majority of cases, vision losses can be mitigated – cheaply – with glasses or cataract surgery.

A Situational Analysis: EYE CARE NEEDS OF ROHINGYA REFUGEES AND THE AFFECTED BANGLADESHI HOST POPULATION IN COX'S BAZAR DISTRICT BANGLADESH

The intent of this document is to provide a current snapshot of the eye care context in Cox's Bazar District of Bangladesh.

The driving factor of this assessment was the influx of Rohingya refugees, which caught international attention. Seva Foundation, as an organization working to develop eye care services within Myanmar and Bangladesh, was concerned about the plight of the Rohingya refugees. Several of the agencies and organizations working in the eye sector in Bangladesh were interested to respond to this refugee crisis and have started to engage in the process of responding.
