"It was so much fun!" gushes Seva's Senior Communications Manager, Smriti Chadha, who was in attendance. "A beautiful night of stunning music, singing, and traditional fashion."
The concert this year has already raised $48,000 for Seva's programs. This helps our partners in India – the Vivekananda Mission Asram Netra Niramay Niketan (VMANNN), HV Desai Eye Hospital in Pune, and Dr. Shroff's Eye Hospital in New Delhi – continue their humanitarian mission of providing critical eye care.
"When I agreed to perform for SAS, little did I know that this was going to be so much more than just another performance," reflects Deepa, a choreographer/dancer with the group. "It's an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself. It is the coming together of like-minded people with the goal of giving themselves to a good cause, making an impact, and having a ton of fun in the process. What more could you ask for?"
"It brings so much meaning and fulfillment that what we do as a team helps restore eyesight in children," says Jyoti Veeramoney, emcee. "And it makes a huge impact right away. It helps them to lead productive lives. The gift of eyesight is the path to a bright future indeed."
"Over the years, our musical charity program has become a major event in the Portland area where audiences show up in large numbers," explains Abhinav, one of SAS' singers. "It has been an honor to work with Seva Foundation and I look forward to working together to support this noble cause."
Because of the generosity of wonderful supporters like SAS, Seva programs are on target to reach our goal of screening one million children by December 2020. Our profound thanks go to Soor Aur Saptak for making this a success, and we look forward to their 10th annual event next year!
